Mary J. Bilge Premiering New Documentary On Amazon Prime This Month

The 1990s will always be remembered as one of the greatest eras in music, fashion and entertainment. So many incredible artist had bursts onto the music scene. One of the most famed and greatest R&B artist to come at that time is Mary J. Bilge. She not only changed the face of music, because of how she blended R&B and hip-hop, she is a fashion icon who is known to change her style as well. She shared a post on social about on how music and film impacted her and new documentary.
The living legend posted a photo on her Instagram page with the caption, “While music has always fueled and fed my soul, classic Black film and TV has always brought happiness to my life, even through the darkest moments. Mary J who was recently Inducted into the Apollo Theater’s Walk Of Fame, is now getting ready revisit the most influential work of her career in her next upcoming project. In honor of African American Music Appreciation Month, the award winning singer/actress is set to drop the documentary, “Mary J. Blige's My Life”, a documentary which will premiere on Amazon Prime later this month and it will give fans an in-depth look at the legendary icons deeply personal and critically acclaimed album titled “My Life” released back in 1994.
Some of the biggest hits from this incredible album includes “All Night Long”, “You Bring Me Joy”, “Be Happy”, “I’m Goin Down” and the fan favorite. “My Life” which samples the classic song, “Everybody Loves The Sunshine” by the legendary and talented musician Roy Ayers.
This was her second album which not only followed the success of her debut album released back in 1992, the album was certified triple platinum, as well received numerous awards.
Finally, this was her second album to reach the top ten on Billboard 200 Chart and
considered to be her breakthrough album because she spoke on so many topics such as her dealing with depression, battling drugs and alcohol and being in an abusive relationship. This particular project spoke to so many of her fans because they were able to relate to things that she sung about and helped them get through dark times. During an interview with “People” the star spoke about how her classic album connected her with her fans. “My Life is the album that really bonded me with my fans who have since been along for what turned out to be a crazy ride”.
She continued on, “ Going back and reliving that time and that music felt like an out-of-body experience, but one I’m so humbled by.” Even though it’s been twenty-seven years Mary J. Bilge release this album, the people are still listening to today. Definitely a game changer and one of the greatest albums of all time. The documentary is going to be amazing for the music/entertainment world and huge for the culture.
